Hey Flip,
since I have no electricity where I am sleeping, I dont watch tv. But, I do read a wide variety of news sites. In my truck, I totaled my van in march, I listen to NPR, and a conservative station. Online I read ABC,NBC,CNN,FOX,and Drudge. I try to get BOTH sides of an issue so I can make my own informed decision based on my own personal beliefs. By trying to catch both sides, hopefully I cn cut through the propaganda from both the left and the right. I concider myself to be more of a libertarian. That means I want as little government interference in my life as possible. I believe in a fiscal conservative government, with more power to the individual states.

Senator Bernie sanders is the only socialist serving in the US Congress yet day in and day out he fights for the small guy. He fights congress, the banking system and CEOs that rip off the average citizens. Am I a socialist.............no but neither am I a capitalist that by definition has to have slavery in order to work.
Mitt Romney paid a tax rate of 15% of his income. How much do you pay (rhetorical question)?
quote]
I am not sure about romney's tax rate, but I ask this question. Does he pay an income tax or a capital gains tax? Income tax is what we pay on the wages we earn, captial gains is the tax paid based on profits from investments. The money paid to make the investments has already been taxed as income when it was initially earned. Then it is invested somewhere, then you recieve you profit on your investment. That is why Warren Buffet pays a smaler tax rate then his secratary. She pays income tax and he pays capital gains taxes.
I had one client, when he died he owned one of the largest car dealerships in florida, who told me his condensed life story. Starting out all he could affor to buy to eat was chicken backs. He invested his money wisely. When Sonny died, his widow had to pay a 50% "death tax. To me that is just obscene. The man paid taxes on every dime he earned, then to tax him half when he died, that is thievery.

i can definately see how he sees it like that, they damn sure is a rat in the nest, killing all the buffalo, and such, here in the south we got our ass kicked by a government that promoted slavery and then used it to occupy and denigrate, i am just saying that the truth of the matter has/is been turned upside down and inside out, Iraq was the same senario, they didnt care about anything but the oil, i know this from Special Forces guy who was working for Haliburton, hell i heard this black lady congreesman calling them demons and i agree , i wish Tecumseh could have pulled the tribes together , in my elementary school library his biography was right their with Jefferson and Washington, and Franklin thought the Germans were dumb , i hear the American dollar wwill be shifting to Chinese, did i say American, i meant British
I have said it here before, I agreed on atacking Afghanistan, that was right, that was where the terrorist were. I strongly disagreed on "occupying" the nation. History has shown it would never be conquered by any nation. Before Afghanistan the last justifiable war america has been in was WWII. I agree, Iraq was for oil and a family grudge, as well as being criminal.
I had a long chat with a chick who was a part of the "occupy wallstreet". We started talking aobut the socialized medicine the obama promoted. She said, "In europe, they have free medical. When I, was in France I hurt my foot and went to the emergency room. It was free. I replied, "It was not free. In france they pay a 45% income tax, not to mention province, city and sales taxes" Later in the conversation she said," In europe, they have a $15 per minimum wage". I said," yes, in germany if you lose your job you get unemployeement indefinately. There is no incentive to look for a job. Yet, in germany, they pay a 55% income tax rate, plus state, sales, city taxes."
I am not opposed to someone getting foodstamps if they truely have the need. What I am opposed to is people ising them as a lifestyle. The last place I lived, there was a guy I called fat boy. he was fat and lazy. He would rather sit around playing video games and watching movies than get a job. There was an article in the paper in september, it took 2 pages of the paper. It detailed how vousia county had one of the largest citrus groves in the state. They had fruit rotting on the tree because they could not get enough workers to pick the fruit. They harvested various citrus from september through april. Fat boy could have gotten a job there easily, but that would have interfeered with his smoking dope and "gaming". He mooched the dope from another tennent. That is why I feel there needs to be a limit, incentive to look for a job as well as drug testing in order to receive the benifits.
No, like everyone else I do not want to pay more in taxes. That is one reason I refuse to "buy" a license for my dog. All that is is a tax for owning a dog. I pay taxes when I take him to the vet, when I buy meds and food for him. I work hard for my money and I want to keep as much of it as possible. That is one good thing about having a cash based business. I get to hide some income from the government.
I am consevative on some issues, liberal on other. Gay marriage does not effect me in the least. I could care less if someone wants to be a rumpranger. I am agains the keystone pipeline because of the ecological issues. But I do not understand why they could not build a refinery in North Dakota. I support research into VIABLE alternative fuels. Unfortunately today, there are none available. Electric cars are a joke and not "green". Something like 65-70% of the electricity is produced from fossil fuels. Also, the batteries are lithium ion or cadinium or lead. These are metals and they are mined. Drive through west virginia and see the effects of minimg on the environment. Todays gas prices are killing me. Before I totaled my van i was spending $100-$200 per week in fuel. I can not put obama's algae in my gas tank.
I agree we need medical reform but not socialized medicine. A few years ago I was out of town visiting friends. I had a boil pop up between my Obama and my George Bush. You decide which is which. I could not walk or even lie down with out great pain. It was a 2 onth wait to see a local doctor. I could not drive because of where the boil was, and I could not pop it myself. I went to the emergency room and had it taken care of. I received a bill later for $1000. Imagine that a grand, to pop a boil.
I think it was Pahanna who said "self sufficiency and self reliance". That is what more people should be thinking of, instead of looking to the government and the taxpayers to exist. Even if you live in a city, you can still grow veggetables. I have a small garden at a clients house. It has tomatos, green pepper, zuccinni, eggplant, squash, and cucumber. A person does not need to have my knowledge of growing plants to have a productive garden. The resources are at the library.
I take no offense to what any have said, just as I meant no offense to anyone. If my rant offended anyone, oops
