It is an aphorism that history is written by the victors.
An oral calendar of events which marked the winters of the Oglala Sioux, taken down from the lips of Ben Kindle, who got it in turn from his grandfather Afraid-of-Soldier.
The history was kept through a combination of oral and visual counts...not written,there-for there is no truly legitimate font through which it can be expressed.
However ,for the diehards,
http://www.linguistsoftware.com/llaku.htm may give some flavour of how the language might 'sound' when transcribed onto the page, and also give some indication of the complexities of this apparently simple task.
As the poem says "...you will live."
