AMY GOODMAN: Can you share with people at the news conference and with President Obama your case for why you should be—your sentence should be commuted, why you want clemency?

LEONARD PELTIER: Well, I never got a fair trial, for one. You know, my case has been throttled from the moment they had grand jury hearings. They had somebody on the grand jury hearing, at the hearing testifying against me I’ve never met in my life. And from the extradition from Canada, they violated international laws. And then at the trial, they had admitted racists—at the trial, they had admitted racists on the jury. They wouldn’t allow me to put up a defense, and manufactured evidence, manufactured witnesses, tortured witnesses. You know, the list is—just goes on. So I think I’m a very good candidate for—after 37 years, for clemency or house arrest, at least.

MNN. Mar. 2, 2013. Why is Leonard Peltier still in jail, since 1977? He is a 68-year old Lakota prisoner of war. We need to help get him out.
Peltier, a former member of American Indian Movement AIM, is the longest incarcerated person in the US. He is in Coleman Prison Florida. He was convicted of aiding and abetting the killing of 2 FBI agents in 1975. Life sentence is 7 years. He got more than 5 life sentences, violating US laws.

Personally, I think Kathy Boudinhas probably has excellent qualifications to be appointed the position she has attained at Columbia University; my point here is that perhaps if Leonard Peltier had been born a "child of upper-middle class privilege, attending good schools and eventually earning a degree..." (http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government ... thy-Boudin) he would not be sitting in prison serving time for A CRIME HE DID NOT COMMIT!!!
Respectively, can anyone tell me why the LPDOC is waiting till 2014 to deliver the letters written to free Leonard? I think of Leonard; 2014 may seem like just around the corner for many of us walking the streets free men and women but for someone who has been sitting in prison and who has suffered the atrocities and humiliations that he has; well 2014 must seem like an eternity.
