"South Dakota is home to several of the poorest counties on this list, even though the state's overall poverty rate is just 13.2%, slightly less than the national average. Part of the reason for this discrepancy is that several of the poorest counties, including Corson, are primarily made up of Native Americans, a disenfranchised group with the highest poverty rate of any ethnicity in the country."

S.C. was on that list.It is not the same as it was when my husband and I lived there. My husband visited the town we lived in a few months ago and he said he didn't ever want to go back.He said friends told him theft crimes were bad and there were no jobs. Our next door neighbor had there car stolen out of their yard.Police were on every corner. When we lived there from 1997-2004 there was little or no crime. It's a wonder Tennessee isn't in that list. The economy was pretty bad when we left it in 2008.We are now in Ga. It's hanging in there OK. A lot of crime in and around Atlanta but the job scene is not bad.Jennifer

Hau Thermlin,

Thanks for introducing this part of the equation.

US Interior Secretary Ken Salazar wants to push the Navajo-Hopi Little Colorado River Water Rights Settlement, already rejected by Navajos, through an upcoming Lame Duck Congress, according to a document leaked to Censored News.

The letter from the Navajo Nation Washington Office states there will be a meeting on Nov. 14 in Washington, between Salazar and the Navajos and Hopis to discuss the water rights settlement, along with the Navajo Generating Station, one of the dirtiest coal fired power plants in the US which Navajo and US politicians want to remain in operation.

This very thought occurred to me, Lostspirit, when I listened to this particular youtube track by John Trudell and Jesse Ed Davis (Crazy Horse): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fDOZ00A1aos
