REPORT

FROM: Robert Robideau
Facilitator
Date: February 8, 2008
Purpose: Report
First, I want to congratulate and applaud the Lakotah people for taking the long
and eagerly awaited step foreword into the future as a Nation of sovereign and
free people. There is a MULTITUDE of futures,
depending on our own choices. We exist in a fast changing world where
alternative thinking about our future as North American Indians has become
determent to our survival today and future generations. Global ethical values is
the single most important qualification for future human survival, depending on
how we view and treat each other, all living beings as well as Mother Earth.
Practical ethics is just another word for responsibility. In essence the
realization of sovereignty and freedom means dismantling of barriers through
dialogue
between ethnic groups, cultures, religions and nations. In accepting the
responsibility as Facilitator for the Republic of Lakotah I pledge to listen to
the needs of the people and focus my attention to insuring that my counsel in
facilitating the process of fulfilling the goals set out by the newly formed
Republic of Lakotah.
As to other concerns I have taken steps to contact individuals who have
professional expertise in areas that the Republic of Lakotah have expressed a
concern and need.
In the area of Health, the rate of diabetes is 800% higher than the U.S national
average, I have secured the commitment of one podiatrist, and orthopedic Doctor
. Dr. Pilar Campo, who owns her own practice,
has 25 years experience in Podiatric and Orthopedic medicine. Podiatric medicine
is a field of healthcare devoted to the study and treatment of disorders of the
foot, ankle, knee, leg, and hip. Orthopedic Medicine is the nonsurgical
evaluation and treatment of the moving parts of the body. It is a "low-tech,"
hands-on approach for diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal problems. Dr.
Campo will arrive on the Pine Ridge reservation on July of 2008 to begin taking
appointments for free exploration and podiatric treatment for DIABETICS AND
CIRCULATION PROBLEMS. The aim during the initial visit to Porcupine is to focus
on diagnosing and treating the elders of the community.
Besides having earned an undergraduate degree of science from Portland
State University I also have 12 years experience as an Orthopedic Technician and
I have committed to assisting Dr. Campo in her treatment of patients.
With Desease and Mortality of our people being the highest in North America we
have a deep and on going responsibility to creating venues in which to bring the
professionalism into our communities that is
needed to eradicate it.
Piameya,
